If your thinking has shifted because of a life-changing event, we can explore what that event means for your life, and how it has affected you. It is entirely possible to take a very painful experience and turn it into a positive growth opportunity, rather than something negative that may stop you from reaching your life goals. 

Grief is not limited to feelings of sadness. It can also involve guilt, yearning, anger, and regret. Emotions are often surprising in their strength or mildness. They can also be confusing. One person may find themselves grieving a painful relationship. Another may mourn a loved one who left them from an illness, and yet feel relief that the person is no longer suffering.

There also is no set time frame for healing. Longer symptoms of grief and/or loss may include:

  • Intense sadness and emotional pain

  • Feelings of emptiness and hopelessness

  • Yearning to be reunited with the deceased

  • Preoccupation with the deceased or with the circumstances of the death

  • Difficulty engaging in happy memories of the lost person

  • Avoidance of reminders of the deceased

  • A reduced sense of identity

  • Detachment and isolation from surviving friends and family

  • Lack of desire to pursue personal interests or plans

I am here to help guide you through the grief process and assist you in understanding and coping with the intense emotions you are feeling. It can be difficult to navigate grief alone. We will work towards recognizing normal aspects of the grieving or mourning process, cope with the pain associated with the loss, feeling supported through the anxiety surrounding life changes that may follow the loss, and develop strategies for seeking further support and self-care with loved ones.
